ru·mi·na·tion (noun): a deep or considered thought about something.
I ruminate often. As summer break has begun, I ruminate on the future - what Treecup will accomplish as I steer within the driver's seat.
I start with one simple display. One VERY simple display at Zelienople's weekly farmers market. This is where I'll be chilling every Monday from 3:30 to 7 pm this summer.
The sun was shining, the weather was nice and thus people could've used a refreshing drink to cool off. It was the perfect sales ecosystem filled with environmentally conscious thirsty people (my favorite)!
Every interaction is an opportunity to tell a story and connect with locals. With every person I meet, I become a little more knowledgeable as I learn about their perception and feedback towards the brand I'm attempting to build.
Every vendor show I attend I get refilled with hope and burning desire towards successfully branding my grandmother's Peruvian tea recipe. I love this feeling.
I wonder what I will feel if/when I finally "arrive" at the destination I yearn for - Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Sheetz. I want to be an environmentally conscious brand made by the Greater Pittsburgh area FOR the Greater Pittsburgh area, and shan't stop until this is accomplished.
BUT I have no clue what I'm doing. I know, however, that quite like learning a language, Entrepreneurship can only theoretically be learned in a classroom. Immersion is truly the greatest means of learning such a trade.
So today is Tuesday - last Friday I finished my Sophomore year of schooling at a place where I feel most at peace, Grove City College.
This means I get to go HARD and HEADFIRST into developing the business which I have begun to create. I'm excited because I had put Té Amo on the back-burner the past few months due to a difficult academic semester.
I am excited - though excitement is an understatement. Every day is filled with the purpose and challenge of creating something that didn't exist the day prior.
I wake and ask myself "What's next?". No professor, manager, or Google search can answer what the next step is in building the business of your dreams - you just figure it out through faith in yourself and what you've done so far.
You take a blind step towards a productive decision and make the most out of it. You follow up on every lead you feel contains promise. You focus on the important sectors of your business - and your final goal.
This is where I'm at. Today is the 4th day of 90 I've been given to make count as "summer break".
I won't waste it, I will capitalize. I will multiply from 9 locations to 30. I will go from my mere 3,000 sales/trees planted to 10,000 sales/trees planted.
It will happen, but only in proportion to how much I desire it to.
"This is fun", I remind myself. "This is the best use of my summer, it's what I want to be doing with my life." Indeed, it's true - but ultimately, will it pay off?
Who knows. All I know is that only I can make it happen, so here we come summer, let's make something beautiful. Let's impact lives - both in sales and in the planting of trees.
"Life is a journey, with problems to solve, lessons to learn, but most of all, experiences to enjoy."
